Construction and Property Litigation Seminar and JCT Amendments Review Workshop
Rogers & Norton’s specialist Construction Team delivered a construction seminar in conjunction with Price Bailey Accountants on Wednesday 15th May, at The Forum in Norwich, aimed at developers, employers, contractors, landlords, architects, surveyors, suppliers, estate agents and those providing professional services to the construction sector.
During the seminar Director Peter Hastings provided a case law update and talked through key terms and conditions of a JCT contract and pitfalls to watch out for. Senior Associate Elizabeth Gibson covered the Renters Reform Bill and the impact to both landlords and tenants. Managing Director Bruce Faulkner provided a commercial property update, covering key points on the points on the Building Safety Act 2022, changes to planning and enforcement and highlighted recent case law, before speakers from Price Bailey took to the stage.
Price Bailey’s VAT Partner Greg Mayne introduced Senior Manager Charlotte Anson, who provided an in-depth presentation on the Construction Domestic Reverse Charge (‘DRC’), the apparent increase in Land Promotion Agreements, the use of VAT calculations approved by HMRC for temporary exempt use of taxable property, and the changes to the Option to Tax process.
Following on from our Construction and Property Litigation Seminar, we then held a Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) Amendments Review Workshop on Wednesday 19th June at our Norwich office. The workshop provided attendees with comprehensive guidance on drafting construction contracts, extending beyond just JCT amendments. Attendees received a wealth of practical and legal tips to enhance their overall knowledge in this area.
