Extremely successful few months for the Construction Team

The team has been advising the main contractor on the construction of a Care Home, with a project value exceeding £4.2million, on the necessary contractual documentation. This included the JCT Design and Build Contract and amendments, letter of intent and VAT issues, and achieved completion within the very tight deadlines required. Peter comments “There were a number of issues that had to be resolved, especially issues arising from ground conditions and the payment mechanism required. However, all terms were agreed within the agreed timescale and works commenced on time.”

Peter also received instructions to advise on the JCT Design and Build Contract for leisure facilities (value £1.2miilion). Instructions were received on a Wednesday and the matter completed on the Thursday. Peter adds “ We are able to work on construction matters (non-contentious and contentious) at short notice and within the tightest of deadlines. One of the departmental strengths that we try to focus on is our adaptability to react to our clients needs at short notice and offer the support they need to get the job done accurately and promptly. Recent instructions also include acting for parties on claims for payment, disputes arising from allegations of defective works, design issues and delays. The team is experienced in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation, and also recently succeeded in two expert determinations.
