HMRC litigation team successfully secures FHDDS approval for international client

In a recent achievement, our HMRC Litigation team played a pivotal role in facilitating the Fulfilment House Due Diligence Scheme (FHDDS) approval for an international commercial client, ensuring a seamless process and swift approval from HMRC, following its initial withdrawal.

FHDDS is a crucial requirement for businesses storing goods in the UK on behalf of sellers established outside the country. FHDDS was introduced to make sure operators of fulfilment businesses (businesses carrying on a third country goods fulfilment business) take reasonable steps to make sure their customers meet their tax and customs obligations. Trading before receiving HMRC approval is a criminal offence, exposing businesses to potential penalties and regulatory breaches.

Facing challenges with the online application portal, our client, a prominent Chinese company managing goods stored in the UK for sellers outside the UK, sought assistance from our HMRC Litigation team to navigate the complexities of the FHDDS application.

Our HMRC Litigation team assisted with the FHDDS application process, ensuring the necessary data was submitted to meet the application criteria. As a result of our advice and assistance, which included attending an interview with HMRC officers, the application was approved, allowing our client to start trading whilst avoiding risk of penalties or breaches of regulations.
