Increase in Probate Fees Abandoned

21st Apr 2017

We recently wrote an article detailing the changes to the probate fees in England and Wales that have been proposed for May 2017.

We are pleased to report that this increase in probate fees has now been abandoned in light of the general election.

The fees will now stay at a set flat rate of £155 when a solicitor makes an application and £215 when a personal application is made.

Laura Rumsey, solicitor at Rogers & Norton commented “We are pleased with the decision to abandon the fee increase in relation to probate applications. These charges would have impacted heavily on cash-poor property owners and would see most of our clients paying an increased fee for the same service.”

At Rogers & Norton we have a knowledgeable and experienced team who are able to offer advice on how best to plan for the future and ensure that all clients are fully aware of how their estates will be dealt with. Our team also deals with:-
