Our Specialist Personal Injury Team supports Injury Awareness Week 2023
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a not-for-profit campaign group which promotes and develops expertise in the practise of personal injury law, for the benefit of injured people. Over the years APIL has grown to become the leading, most respected organisation in this field and Rogers & Norton’s Personal Injury team are proud members.
Injury Awareness Week 2023, the cornerstone of APIL’s mission to build public awareness to help prevent needless injuries, kicks off on Monday 26th June.
Our specialist Personal Injury team have been working on a variety of cases over recent months. Whilst all of the cases we have worked on have had a successful outcome for our clients, it does not take away the life changing impact the injuries have on the victims of negligence. To shine a light on the prevalence of injuries, the impact they have and how we might be able to assist you, here’s a few examples of our recent cases.
Case Example 1:
C suffered an undisplaced fracture of her wrist, lacerations and bruises as a result of being knocked off her bike whilst on her way to work. C was in a cast for 8 weeks and absent from work for a period of 2 weeks and then on reduced hours. C also missed out on scheduled overtime as a result of her injuries. The claim was commenced via the MOJ claims portal for low value claims. Liability was admitted within the portal, medical evidence obtained and the claim settled in the global sum of £5800 to include an award in respect of personal injuries, loss of earnings and the cost of the repairs to C’s damaged bike.
Case Example 2:
C suffered injuries to his lower back, right ankle and knee together with concussion when he fell down an open/uncovered drain which was on land owned by the Defendant. D was insured and liability was admitted early. Medical evidence was obtained which indicated that C required knee replacement surgery as a result of the accident. At the time of the accident C was self-employed and suffered a loss of profit. C also required care and assistance from family members with driving and various household tasks. C’s claim settled in the global sum of £60,000.00 to include personal injuries, loss of earnings, care and treatment/surgery costs.
Case Example 3:
C suffered an accident at work when the machine he was operating caught his ring finger resulting in a traumatic amputation of his finger. C was awarded £50,000.00 in respect of his personal injuries and associated losses.
Case Example 4:
C was the driver of a motor vehicle in slow moving traffic when the Defendant has collided with the rear of her vehicle causing C to sustain multiple fractures to her back, ribs, arm and face together with a subdural hematomata, head injury and lacerations and psychological trauma. C was a student and had to defer her university degree by a year resulting in C qualifying a year later than would have been the case but for the accident. C was awarded the global sum of £92,000.00 in respect of personal injuries, loss of earnings, care and treatment costs.
