Rogers & Norton Solicitors announce the return of unique Law Academy designed for local sixth form students
At Rogers & Norton Solicitors, we are delighted to announce the return of our annual Law Academy, hosting a series of engaging legal workshops crafted to introduce sixth form students to a potential career in law.
Building upon the success of our previous Law Academy held during the winter and spring of 2022 – 2023, we are thrilled to announce our continued commitment to providing this invaluable experience to sixth form students in the local community. Working in partnership with several local schools, the objective of the Academy is to offer guidance and support to students with an interest in pursuing a career in law. We aspire to equip them with a comprehensive understanding of the different pathways into the legal profession and what each process entails.
Starting in October 2023, we will deliver monthly workshops to year 12 and 13 students from a range of local schools including Norwich School, Thorpe St Andrew High School and Sprowston High School. The Academy consists of seven engaging workshops, taking place from October 2023 through to April 2024. These sessions will be conducted on Wednesday evenings at our Norwich office and will be expertly led by experienced legal professionals who specialise in the respective topics being covered. Topics include wills, trusts and probate, property, commercial, litigation and personal injury, and each workshop will consist of a range of practical activities, providing students an insight into day-to-day life of lawyers working within those specific practice areas.
‘‘This initiative provides students with a genuine glimpse insight into the world of law, at an age when it’s important to make informed career decisions and consider the right pathway to employment. Traditionally, law firms hold vacation schemes for university law graduates, leaving limited structured work-experience opportunities for sixth form students. We’ve had an excellent response from the schools we have been working with and look forward to running this year’s academy for aspiring young legal minds.’’
Aidan Tidnam, Director of Operations at Rogers & Norton
The Law Academy will conclude with a session on careers and the pathway to qualification with trainee solicitors, chartered legal executives, directors and barristers in attendance to share their personal experiences and talk through the options available for entering law. Notably, this closing session will be open not only to students but also to parents and teachers who are keen to gain insight into the legal profession.
