Construction Law and Contracts Seminar 2023
On Wednesday 26th April, Rogers & Norton’s specialist Construction Team delivered a construction seminar at Norwich Theatre Royal, aimed at developers, employers, contractors, architects, surveyors, suppliers, estate agents and those providing professional services to the construction sector.
During the seminar Director Peter Hastings covered the pros, cons and latest cases of adjudication, informed delegates what they need to know about the Building Safety Act 2022 and highlighted what to look out for with Joint Contracts Tribunals (JCTs) and NEC4 contracts. Peter discussed the need to ensure payment provisions are carefully drafted to ensure that a contactor can lawfully suspend works, and when parties can terminate a construction contract. He also advised on the need to issue valid complaint Payment Notices and Pay Less Notices. Senior Associate Elizabeth Gibson covered recovery of payment, highlighting methods of due diligence, damage limitation, enforcement, County court and insolvency proceedings. This included the need to ensure terms and conditions are incorporated.
Delegate feedback included:
‘‘This was of great interest to me so I enjoyed the content.’’
‘‘The presentations flowed nicely and the speakers were clear, informative and engaging.’’
‘‘Various legal points covered which were relevant to the job I do.’’
