HMRC and UK Border Force Litigation team achieve successful outcome for EU haulier client

In a major success for our client, we successfully set aside an assessment of £120,000 for goods that were destined for the EU.

The tractor unit, which was towing a trailer with alcohol, was intercepted and subsequently seized by UK Border Force. UK Border Force decided to restore the goods if £120,000 was paid.

The Assessment in our view was wrong. UK Border Force conducted a review after our detailed submission and the restoration/assessment fee was completely withdrawn. The seized goods were never intended to be unloaded or sold in the UK (in effect this was an EU-EU movement). This was a fantastic result for our client!

We understand the importance of engaging HMRC and UK Border Force immediately to reduce the challenges and financial hardship that our clients could face when their goods are detained or seized. If you have had vehicles or any other goods detained or seized, we can act on your behalf to regain access.

For more information please visit our HMRC and UK Border Force webpage. If you have had goods detained or seized and require assistance, please contact Peter Hastings, a specialist HMRC and UK Border Force solicitor at ph@rogers-norton.co.uk
