Services for GPs
Last week Richard Etheridge, Chairman, joined with Lovewell Blake to talk to GP registrars about partnership matters. The event was held at the Bob Champion Centre at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
Matt Sturman and Keith Shorten of Lovewell Blake talked to the trainee doctors about partnership accounts and tax whilst Richard advised those in attendance about partnership and the things a new partner should look out for. This included the importance of a fair and balanced partnership agreement that is up to date, hot topics such as “Last Man Standing” issues and the issues surrounding the partnership premises both freehold and leasehold.
Richard has been doing this talk annually at one of the doctors training days for some years now. Over this time it has become apparent how, when asked, very few of those attending were looking to become partners in a general practice. Until the Government and the NHS can address young doctors concerns in this respect it will continue to be a problem for partners retiring to recruit their successors.
Richard commented, ‘The talk covered an awful lot of ground lasting just over an hour and a half. It was a good day and after last year’s event online, it was great to be back talking face to face.’
