Dementia Action Week 2026 – Support in Norfolk
As part of Dementia Action Week 2026, Rogers & Norton Solicitors is supporting efforts to raise awareness of dementia and the impact it continues to have on individuals, families and communities across Norfolk.
Led by the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia Action Week runs from 18th – 24th May and this year’s campaign continues to share the stories behind the Forget Me Not symbol, helping to spark conversations, improve understanding and encourage support for those affected by dementia.
For Rogers & Norton, dementia is something the firm’s Private Client team regularly supports clients and families with through its work involving Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters.
Laura Rumsey, Director and Head of Private Client Department, said: “Dementia is something that affects so many families, often bringing significant emotional and practical challenges. Through our work, we regularly support individuals and loved ones navigating important decisions around future planning, mental capacity and care arrangements.
“Raising awareness and encouraging open conversations around dementia is incredibly important. Over the years, we have delivered a number of Dementia Friends sessions for our staff and remain passionate about improving understanding of dementia, both personally and from a legal perspective. Even small actions and greater awareness can make a real difference to those living with dementia and the people caring for them.”
Throughout Dementia Action Week, the Alzheimer’s Society will be hosting a number of local support events across Norwich, where Dementia Advisors will be available to offer confidential advice, practical guidance and information resources.
Norwich events include:
- Tuesday 19th May – Dementia Friendly Café (Benji’s Café), inside Jarrolds, 10.00am–1.00pm
- Wednesday 20th May – Information Stand at The Forum, 9.00am–3.00pm
- Thursday 21st May – Marmalade’s Café, Royal Arcade, 9.00am–12.00pm
- Thursday 21st May – Castle Quarter, 10.00am–3.00pm

The Alzheimer’s Society also operates the Norfolk and Waveney Dementia Support Service, providing free personalised support for anyone worried about memory loss, living with dementia, or caring for somebody affected by the condition.
Support is available face-to-face, online or over the phone and includes access to Dementia Advisers and Admiral Nurses, practical guidance, emotional support, signposting to local services and advice around future planning and care options.
The local service can be contacted on 01603 763556 or by email at norfolk@alzheimers.org.uk
Looking ahead to June, the Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Forget Me Not Appeal will encourage businesses, organisations and individuals to come together in support of people affected by dementia, including through fundraising activities such as tea parties and badge sales.
In support of both Dementia Action Week and the Forget Me Not Appeal, Rogers & Norton will be hosting two Dementia Friends training sessions for staff on Friday 19 June, delivered by Tarryn Stuart, Regional Fundraiser of the Alzheimer’s Society, alongside a Forget Me Not Tea Party at lunchtime to help raise awareness and show support for those affected by dementia.
Director of Operations Aidan Tidnam is also taking part in a ‘Fore Get Me Not’ Charity Golf Day in Dereham on Friday 19th June, in an attempt to retain the trophy from last year’s victory!
